Kristina
Kristina is 28 years old and grew up in foster care. She faced many disappointments in foster care which resulted in trust issues. She had a part-time job but the pay was not sufficient for housing and her car note, so she paid her car note and was living in her car. One day, Kristina searched online for “church nearby” which led her to New Life Church and New Life Community Alliance (NLCA). She visited NLCA for the Saturday food and clothing pantries and was also connected to Case Management and Dignity Services at that time.

NLCA first provided Kristina temporary housing in a nearby motel. With ongoing basic food assistance we helped develop her resume, and she utilized our beauty salon and clothing store to prepare for job interviews. Kristina aspires to be a veterinarian and work at a Wildlife Refuge Organization. She was energized by the support she received from NLCA and applied for positions working with animals.

Kristina applied for and is now working full-time at the Dekalb Animal Shelter as an Animal Care Specialist. With NLCA’s support, she has also relocated from the motel to a stable housing situation through PadSplit. Kristina’s next goal is to move into an apartment once she saves additional funds.

Her life possibilities were dramatically changed within 30 days after her GPS led her to New Life!
